Friday, September 16th marks B.B. King’s birthday, a harvest moon, a lunar eclipse, and a full moon all rolled into one, so there’s no better time to party! The Moonshine Ball will take place under the light of the moon at the Gibson, accompanied by music, dinner, and fireworks.
There are so many reasons to celebrate, like the movement to save Aretha Franklin’s abandoned childhood home, the Gibson recognizing Memphis as the next GuitarTown for 2017, and the opening of the new Guesthouse at Graceland. Since the Ball is also nodding to the recent Million Dollar Quartet Series, you can expect to hear some MDQ music, along with other appearances that include Memphis Jones, Al Kapone, and Jason D. Williams.
The event is presented by Pat Kerr Tigrett and the Memphis Charitable Foundation, who also host Jingle Bell Ball and Blues Ball (which finally came to an end after 22 years, and was my favorite).
So save the date! The Moonshine Ball is a week from tomorrow at the Gibson Guitar Factory from 7PM until 12AM.
The deadline to buy tickets or reserve a table is Sept. 12th, so check here for more information.
See you there!
